In line with its ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of its employees and communities, GCS Spain has launched a local campaign to coincide with breast cancer awareness month, involving everything that surrounds us and marks our daily lives. We must raise awareness among our staff, customers, and the general public about the disease and the importance of being aware and vigilant for early detection and prevention.
As part of its campaign, GCS Spain has illuminated its main office in Valencia in pink and has taken containers and trucks with the breast cancer awareness ribbon out to sea and on the streets.
According to the WHO, "Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer; two million cases of breast cancer are diagnosed worldwide each year." The diagnosis has an indescribable emotional impact on each patient and family, friends, and colleagues. As an integral member of the communities in which we operate, and with a large community of employees, Global Cargo System joins the fight against breast cancer and wants to do its part to help raise awareness that prevention and early detection are critical.
Since 1980, significant advances have been made in treating breast cancer; between the 1980s and 2020, age-standardized breast cancer mortality decreased by 40% in high-income countries. Such improvements have not yet been achieved in low- and middle-income countries.
